CSS letter-spacing adds space between characters and is best expressed in em so it scales with font size. Tight negative tracking (−0.02em to −0.05em) is common for large headlines; loose positive tracking (0.05em to 0.15em) works well for uppercase labels and captions. line-height should be unitless (e.g. 1.6) so it inherits correctly when font size changes. For body text, 1.5–1.7 is the comfortable reading range; headings can go as tight as 1.1–1.2. These two properties together have more impact on readability than almost any other typographic decision.
