Extract dominant colors from any image — upload a photo or screenshot to get a palette of HEX codes instantly. Click any swatch to copy, or click directly on the image to pick a specific color.
Color extraction works by sampling pixels across the image and clustering similar colors together — a technique called quantization. The most common algorithm is median cut, which recursively divides the color space to find the most representative hues. The result is a small set of dominant colors that capture the mood and palette of the image. This is particularly useful when building a UI around a photo or product image: extracting the palette ensures your typography, buttons and backgrounds are harmonious with the content. Designers also use extracted palettes as a starting point for brand color systems when the brand is visually defined by photography rather than abstract choices.
